Epiphany Concert in Ötz

The festive Christmas season in Ötz traditionally concludes with a beautiful and atmospheric church concert under the theme "Christmas Music at the Church Crib".
For this year’s musical celebration, organizer Georg Schmid has invited two local ensembles whose interpretation of “Volksklassik” perfectly reflects the spirit of the season.
On Monday, January 6th at 5:00 PM, the Tyrolean vocal ensemble NovoCanto and the Wiltener Holzbläser will perform in the picturesque parish church at the entrance to the Ötztal valley. The chamber choir NovoCanto will also use this occasion to mark the beginning of its silver jubilee year. Founded 25 years ago by music students, the choir has since established itself as a refined ensemble specializing in early music. It performs at renowned festivals across Europe under the guidance of leading choral specialists and in collaboration with distinguished (Baroque) orchestras.
The Wiltener Holzbläser, a colorful and unique chamber music ensemble, emerged from the Stadtmusikkapelle Wilten and is particularly well-suited for seasonal music thanks to its distinctive instrumentation.
ORF moderator and folk music expert Peter Kostner will provide insightful context to ensure the thematic coherence of this sacred concert.
The program will feature works inspired by traditional folk melodies as well as compositions by great masters, creating a musical journey through the Christmas season. The two ensembles will perform in various formations and also collaborate in harmonious interplay.
Admission is free, but donations are kindly requested.
