Oetz
Stronghold for families & outdoor fans
Oetz (or Eze, as we “Eztol” poeple call it) lies at 820 m at the foot of the striking Acherkogel peak. This is the right place to fully enjoy the advantages of Lower Ötztal. Discover the picture-book village center, the natural jewel of nearby lake Piburger See and myriad activities within the area, on the valley floor and one level higher in Hochoetz.
Oetz
Take a walk through Oetz and discover the village’s ancient history of settlement. Historical buildings such as the Tower Museum, the parish church and many artistic facade paintings from the 16th century bear witness to the carefully developed village architecture that is rarely found anywhere else in Tirol. Countless restaurants, cafés and boutiques for shopping and enjoyment are absolutely in tune with the times.
Its location and infrastructure make Oetz the number 1 place for active people. Take Acherkogel mountain gondola up to 2,020 m and reach the alpine Hochoetz pastureland & hiking region, which transforms into the quiet Hochoetz ski area in winter - ideal for families and ski fans looking for a relaxed atmosphere.
Mountain bike and paragliding fans appreciate Oetz as a starting point. The waters of Ötztaler Ache, one of the most popular white water routes in Europe, flows through the village and our natural landmark, scenic lake Piburger See, shimmers in a rocky basin above Oetz.
