About 15 switch-backing bends take you from Umhausen up into Horlachtal, a side valley of Ötztal where this village has found a particularly picturesque location. Due to its setting, Niederthai is considered the perfect starting point for hikes and mountain tours to the Ötztal Nature Park. To make sure you don't miss out on the most scenic viewpoints, some locals from Niederthai have collected their personal favorite places and tell you how to reach them.
In winter, Niederthai becomes a snowy paradise for active people. As a designated “Ötztal cross-country ski center”, the sunny plateau offers a wide range of cross-country ski tracks (16.5 km) as well as the opportunity to try out biathlon. Tirol’s cross-country ski run seal of approval confirms the high quality.
Beginners and children feel at ease in the small but fine Niederthai family ski area. With 2 T-bar ski lifts, a connecting lift and a total of 4 slope kilometers, the conditions are ideal for practicing your first turns in a relaxed manner.
