Ski holidays with children
All the family is wild about it
If you are looking for the right ski resort when it comes to a ski vacation with children you will find what you were looking for in Hochoetz at the entrance to Ötztal. It is not without reason that the compact area at over 2000 meters has taken up the slogan "The big family". At this point we will explain what makes Hochoetz so special and why it is ideal for a ski holiday with children.
Children come to power. On skis!
In Hochoetz, the youngest ones experience their first big skiing performance, because the infrastructure is completely geared to the needs of the youngsters. The kids’ constant companion (and omnipresent in the ski area) is WIDI, the mountain sheep and mascot of the region. And this is how the ski adventure for the very youngest, who are taking a course at one of the partner ski schools, begins in WIDIs Kids’ Land: a separate practice area includes several magic carpets and promises a playful introduction to snow sports before moving on to the four practice ski lifts that lead over gently sloping terrain and are therefore just perfect for children and beginners.
Children who have successfully left the practice area behind can now discover the entire ski area for themselves. Of the total of 41 slope kilometers in Hochoetz, 12 kilometers are blue, easy pistes, and 21.5 kilometers are red, intermediate ski runs. And lovely WIDI the mountain sheep says hello to the ski-loving kids almost at every turn.
Steep turns, waves, jumps and rails. All this and a lot more (including a new speed course) awaits courageous children in WIDIs fun park.
Keep your eyes open on the ski slope. This is the ultimate motto "On the tracks of wild animals" children's course. Kids, for whom red pistes are no problem, will discover true-to-life replicas of forest animals to the left and right of the trail.
The WIDI rally requires both skiing skills as well as brain power. All children who easily ski down red slopes can look forward to puzzles scattered throughout the ski area.
You won't find this in any other ski area in Austria: WIDIs movie shuttle is located at the top station of Acherkogel gondola at over 2000 meters. Behind this mystery, there is a 5D multimedia simulator with a 180-degree screen that allows you to experience the chase all the senses. By the way, you don't have to be able to ski if you want to take part in this adventure.
WIDI's play & slide park promises a change from fun on the slopes. Small waves and hills are great for sliding and tobogganing, while parts of the WIDIVERSUM, which is popular in summer, invite you to play.
If you now think that all children's attractions in the Hochoetz ski area have been listed already, you are wrong! The kindergarten, for example, is open daily for kids from the age of 2, who are looked after while parents enjoy their rounds in the ski area. There is also a free children's theater every Wednesday during the winter months. The snow playground in Ochsengarten offers even more play opportunities, and the with gates represents another ski challenge – fast-paced fun that knows no age!
