First Ascent - North-East Face

Gemeindesaal Längenfeld (Längenfeld)

Description

In the winter of 2024, Ötztal alpinists Tobias and Marc Holzknecht are taking on a new challenge – the untouched northeast face of the Wilde Leck in the Stubai Alps. Their goal is to conquer this imposing rock wall in pure alpine style: without gathering prior information about the wall and without leaving any material behind. Despite adverse conditions with fog and snowfall, they succeed in opening a new route and climbing the wall.

For the two rope partners, the Wilde Leck is more than just one of their local mountains – it represents their deep-seated passion for alpinism. The day of the first ascent also holds special significance for Tobias – February 18 is the birthday of exceptional alpinist and friend Hansjörg Auer, who tragically lost his life in Canada in 2019.

That evening, alpinist Simon Gietl will also captivate the audience with an engaging multimedia presentation about his expeditions, first ascents, and experiences in the alpine world. The extreme climber shares stories about his life, his passion for mountaineering, and his expeditions to Patagonia, Peru, India, and his home region, the Dolomites.

Admission: €15.00
