Auf den Spuren der Sommerfrische

Turmmuseum (Oetz)
07. February - 04. April 2025

Description

From the Tower Museum to Hotel Drei Mohren

A very special walk awaits on Friday, April 4, in Oetz. Starting from the exhibition "Beautiful Pictures, Best Wishes" at the Tower Museum Oetz, the tour leads through the historic town center and ends in the historic halls of Hotel Drei Mohren.

The exhibition focuses on the history of tourism and the concept of Sommerfrische (summer retreat). It explores how tourism imagery was created in the past and, in some cases, continues to be shaped today. Oetz was an early tourism hotspot—visitors began arriving as early as the mid-19th century. By the turn of the century, a flourishing summer retreat tourism had developed.

Cultural scholar and mediator Laura Kogler, together with Christian Nösig, chairman of the Tower Museum Association, invite you on April 4 at 5 PM for a unique walk. This guided tour will trace the discovery and development of Oetz as a summer retreat destination. Advertising graphics and artworks, which reveal much about both the hosts and guests of the past, will serve as a starting point. As the group strolls through the historic alleys, they will dive deep into the local and tourism history of Oetz.

The tour concludes at the Hotel Drei Mohren, where guests can experience its interiors, preserved in the style of the Sommerfrische era.

To round off the evening, participants are invited for a shared drink.
Registration required at info@oetztalermuseen.at
